The strength found in nature in general is such an inspiration to me and flowers that look delicate upon first glance are really anything but.  I feel that showing flowers and small details found within fauna in a large scale shows the viewer the strength that is found within the plant. It is important to stop during our average busy day and look at the finer details that are all around us, by depicting a subject in large scale, but at macro focal length, I hope to bring attention to the wonderful shape and form, light and dark, and lost and found edges that most people won’t realize are there.

I have always been drawn to orchids, I find them to be mysterious and extremely striking in their simplicity. Orange Orchid is a painting of one of my plants. The orange veining against the lighter sherbet petals change in saturation during the day in different light. This orchid is a rapid bloomer which is such a joy to experience, and since it is one of my first orchids I am fortunate she likes her special spot in the house.
