I am a visual artist living in Qualicum Beach on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I was born and raised on the west coast of British Columbia. I pull my creative inspiration from the awe inspiring nature that surrounds me as well as the urban landscapes of the beautiful cities that are close by.
I work in watercolor, graphite, and colored pencil. My art and photography focus on flora and fauna, landscapes, cityscapes, and subjects and objects found in nature, as well as macro format perspectives. I am passionate about the study of light, shadow, color, and using watercolor as a bold and saturated medium to accomplish realistic, yet painterly, images. Colored pencil is a surprising medium in that it can be used to create varied styles from painterly to realism with bold and saturated color. The drama and tonal range of graphite pencil is very exciting to me, I liken it to the difference between color and black and white film photography. The ability to create realistic textures with the graphite medium is fascinating.
Because of my detailed style some works can take months to complete but I enjoy every moment of the process.
Because of this time factor I am currently building up my portfolio, please come back often to see new works and also join me on social media to be the first to see new work and hear about upcoming events.
If you are in the Qualicum Beach area and would like to see my work in person I would enjoy giving you a tour of my studio.
