THE LION KICKS THE BALL
Beautifully crafted, dramatic, highly detailed, small works graphite pencil drawings of individual stones found on the beaches near my home in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. I could not believe my eyes when I found this rock. To me I saw a lion figure kicking a ball and thought of all of the fun times growing up playing outdoors doing just this same activity.
The traditions handed down from one generation to another, and the memories from them, are the most precious to us. This collection reflects the memories I have of time spent with my family on the beaches of the west coast of British Columbia collecting rocks, shells, and beach glass. Today, these little “gems” that end up coming home with me help connect me with my past and the memories ground me.
Each of these pieces are drawn on Strathmore plate finish acid free paper. I deliberately chose the smooth, almost glass like surface, of this paper because I wanted to create every nuance of texture myself with my pencil instead of the surface of the paper creating any texture as can happen with some papers. This gave me total control over all of the details that each beautiful stone possesses.
This piece best suits a minimum of an 8” x 10” frame. I can also suggest an even larger frame for this piece as I feel it would create a more dramatic feel and the piece would command more attention.
A certificate of authenticity is included with this original artwork.
Size: 7” H X 10.25” W (paper edge to edge)
Suggested mat opening: 6” H X 7” W (can vary depending on your taste)
* You are purchasing just the original artwork. The artwork is not matted nor framed. I have tried my best to represent the artworks colours in photographs but the original works colours may vary on various computer screens etc. Please allow for up to ten business days for the work to be packed and shipped. A tracking number if applicable will be sent to the email address of the customer upon shipping.
